Helen Jean Murin, 91, of Lower Burrell, died Tuesday, October 17, 2017, in St. Clair Hospital in Mt. Lebanon. She was born in Rural Ridge, daughter of the late Michael and Ann Zurisko and had lived in the Lower Burrell area most of her life. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church in Lower Burrell. Helen was an avid gardener and loved flowers. She appreciated wildlife, especially enjoying the colorful birds that came to her bird feeders. She loved to play cards with her family and friends and valued her time socializing at family camps in Somerset and Emporium. Helen will be fondly remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who was blessed with a personality full of fun and laughter, characteristics which her nieces and nephews especially, and everyone around her, found to be very engaging. Helen was the dear mother of David Murin of New York City and Timothy (Kathryn) Murin of Upper St. Clair; grandchildren, Carolyn of Swissvale; Marissa of Chicago and Cullen of Virginia Tech; sister of Elizabeth Shaw of Springdale. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Martin M. Murin; sisters Mary Tabacchi of Lower Burrell and Julie Martin of Springdale; brothers John Zurisko and Joseph Zurisko, both of Springdale. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Friday in the FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068, where a blessing service will be held at 11 AM Saturday. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell. Parish wake service will be held at 6:30 PM Friday in the funeral home.
