Eugene A. Montanari, 91, of Lower Burrell, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018, at The Willows in Oakmont. He was born April 26, 1927, in Renton to the late Fred and Virginia Montanari. He lived his entire life in the area, where he worked for People Gas. He completed his career there as a welder. He was drafted in his last year of high school and served in the Army in Germany during World War II. He was a member of the VFW in Lower Burrell, and Tyrian Lodge No. 644 in Lower Burrell. He was a longtime member of Grace Community Presbyterian Church. In addition to playing his Cordovox in local bands for many years, he volunteered for Faith in Action (now Open Your Heart to a Senior) and the American Red Cross. His hobbies included ice fishing and photography, both taking and developing the pictures, as well as CGH School of Nursing basketball coach and CLOA Club of New Kensington. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; his sons, Lee and his wife, Clara, of Hopewell Township, and their son, Michael, of Lawrenceville, and Doug and his wife, Jackie, of Lower Burrell.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell (724-335-6500). Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Grace Community Presbyterian Church, 2751 Grant St., Lower Burrell, PA 15068, with the Rev. Kenneth Foust officiating. Everyone please meet at the church.
