Garnet Adele (McCollim) Howard, 93, of Cabot, formerly of Lower Burrell, died Friday, July 27, 2018, in Simpsonville, S.C. She was born Nov. 18, 1924, in Avonmore, daughter of the late Lawrence Henry McCollim and Maude Ellen (Shomo) McCollim. Garnet graduated from Citizen's General Hospital School of Nursing in 1945, working there as a registered nurse for 38 years, more than 20 years as the head nurse in the nursery. She was active in the Ruth Circle (treasurer), rummage sales, soup and hoagie sales and other fundraisers at Bethel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping at Moraine Campgrounds, crossword puzzles, card games and crocheting. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Hazel (William) Silvis and Mary (Leonard) Gilhousen; and brother, Franklin McCollim. Garnet was the beloved wife of 72 years to the late R. Gene Howard; precious mother of Cheryl Howard Bogatay, of Simpsonville, S.C., and Leah Howard Kubalik (late Richard I. Kubalik), of Sheffield Village, Ohio; loving grandmother of Michelle (Michael) Pait, Jennifer (Joe) Sayegh, Cyndi (Jonathan) Bigelow and Kathy (Sean) Leckrone, all of Simpsonville, S.C., David (Becca) Killmeyer, of Palmyra, Va, and Andrew (Julie) Kubalik, of Sarasota, Fla., as well as, cherished great-grandmother to 22. She is survived by her sister, Edna Wells; brother-in-law, Gerald (Doris) Howard; and sister-in law, Helen Howard, as well as many nieces and nephews. Karish, supervisor, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068 and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2018 in the Bethel United Methodist Church, 150 Alder St., Lower Burrell, PA 15068 with the Rev.
