Margaret Korpela, 93, of Lower Burrell, passed peacefully on Sunday, December 3, 2017 after a long illness. She was born March 7, 1924 in Aspinwall, daughter of the late Joseph and Amelia (Wolfe) Albacker and moved to Lower Burrell 27 years ago. Margaret worked as an LPN for the Visiting Nurses Association for many years. She is survived by two daughters, Marta (Daniel) Best of New Kensington; Jeannie (Michael) Burlas of Ligonier; and a son, Jerry Witt of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren, Joelle Best of Orlando, Florida and Jacob Best of Lower Burrell. Honoring her wishes, services and burial are private. Arrangements entrusted to the FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME in Lower Burrell. Marta and Dan would like to thank the Belair staff for the attentive and compassionate care that they provided to Margaret for the 3+ years that she resided there. A special thanks to everyone at Interim Hospice for making Margaret’s last months peaceful, pain free and for being on call 24-7. You took wonderful care of us as well as our mother. We are very grateful.
