Mary Minerva Gilliam Burns Harris, 89, of Lower Burrell, died Monday, February 5, 2018 in Pleasant Ridge in West Leechburg. She was born June 6, 1928 in Distant, daughter of the late George Austin and Addaline Blanche Hawkins Gilliam. Mary was well known as the Animal Control Officer for Lower Burrell. She was a horse breeder and trader, a Tack Shop owner and Pony Ride Service owner. Mary was a founding member of both Pine Valley Saddle Club and Stoneybrook Saddle Club; an 8th Degree member of Grange 1756 of Bell Township; and member of AQHA and Icelandic Horse Association. She was also in the Womens Auxillary Service Patrol of the Army Air Corps. Survivors include her sons, Robert Frank Burns of Vandergrift and William Charles Burns of Lower Burrell; her daughter, Barbara Jean Burns Anderson, wife of Robert L. Anderson of Bell Township; grandchildren, Constance Anderson (Robert) Wilmoth; Caleigh Anderson; Tina (Burns) Linsenbigler; and Jason Charles Burns; two great grandchildren, James and Nicole Linsenbigler; two brothers-in-law, Larry Rettig and Don Kealey. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Frank Burns, her second husband, Thomas Eugene Harris; a grandson, John Thomas Burns; sisters, Catherine (Lloyd) Keibler; Flora Belle (Roy) Dickson; Margaret (Arthur) Bates; Martha (Calvin) Beatty; Pauline Rettig; and Della Kealey. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Friday in the FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068. Rev. Daniel Satler of Saltsburg Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial is private.
