Ruth O. (Holtz) Tonks

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother of Lower Burrell passed away on July 22, 2018 at the age of 92 after a short illness surrounded by her family and friends who loved her.  She was born in Chicago, IL., to Gertrude (Steinmeuller) and Charles Holtz and was he youngest of three siblings.  She met my grandfather, James L. Tonks II at Navy Pier and were married in Chicago.  They moved with his family to Lower Burrell to raise their family.  My grandmother was a devoted homemaker and seamstress but her greatest gift was being a mother to James L. Tonks III (Maxine) of Erie, grandmother to Lisa Fouts of Erie, James L. Tonks IV (Stephanie) of Erie, and Ashley Jones (Adam) of Mars as well as great grandmother to Ottavia, Jay, Raven, Anna and Allison.  Grandma will be missed by her best friend and sister in law Margie Tonks of Lower Burrell and very special friend Debbie.  Grandma is preceded in death by my grandfather Jim, her brother, Harold, sister Blanche and great grandson Landon.  We would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to Sarah Reed Senior Living in Erie for their loving care.  Family and friends received at the Frank F.
