Terry M. Funkhouser, 68, of Leechburg (Allegheny Township), passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family early Sunday morning, May 13, 2018. She was born May 12, 1950 in New Kensington, daughter of the late William and Mabel (O’Block) Maughan. In her youth, Terry was a champion swimmer for the YMCA, having set numerous records. After graduating from Plum High School, she went on to become a nurse, but not before attending Woodstock. Terry worked throughout her field, from elder care to pediatric hospice. She took care of everyone she knew and enjoyed her time gardening, swimming and being the best grandma ever! Most of all, she loved spending time with her husband and dog, Bear, and watching the Pirates and Steelers win. Terry is survived by her husband, Robert E. Funkhouser; children, Jason Kosmal of Allegheny Township; Jessica Mehal and husband Jay “Bird” Mehal of Allegheny Township; stepson Mitchel Funkhouser and wife Heather of Harmar Township. She will be greatly missed by her two grandchildren, Jeremiah Johnson Mehal Jr., Hunter J. Mehal and Bear. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joellen Maughan Evanson. Family and friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, with Rev. Ken Foust officiating. Burial is private.
