Alan M. Atkinson, age 74, of Tarentum went to be with the Lord on Friday August 27, 2021 with his wife Helen and family by his side. Alan was born in West Tarentum in 1947 to the late Merle and Alice Atkinson. Alan loved God with all his heart, and was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Upper Burrell. He was a proud United States Marine and fought in the Vietnam War. He was a free mason and also a past president of Counsel in Tarentum. Alan never met a stranger, he loved everyone. He had the best smile and laugh. He loved to make people feel welcome. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, singing, dancing and joking around. He had a talent for painting beautiful pictures. His favorite holiday was Christmas. He married the love of his life, Helen (Lewis) 13 years ago and they are soulmates now and forever. Alan has three children with Helen, son Robert Bowser, son Kevin Bowser, and daughter Sara Bowser. He thought of all them as his own. Alan has three children from his late wife Louise Atkinson; his sons Clint and Sean Atkinson; and daughter Holly Lankey. He has 4 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews that he loved. He is survived by his sisters, Janet Morris and Beverly (Ron) Stock. He was preceded in death by his brother and best friend Barry Atkinson. Alan was blessed with his wife Helen, and they adored each other. Alan was taken care of by his wife Helen and daughter Sara, up until the end. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
