Arthur Grantz Obituary

Arthur “Art” L. Grantz, 74, of New Kensington passed away on Thursday April 7, 2022 at his home.  He was born in 1947 in New Kensington to the late Bill and Thelma (George) Grantz.  Art was a 1966 graduate of Burrell.  He worked at Hart’s Department Store in New Kensington and sold insurance for Western & Southern Insurance.  In 1972 he started working for Allegheny Ludlum and retired after 30 years of service.  As a young man he wanted to do missionary work in Africa and was able to fulfill his dream in the late 1980’s.  He participated in missions in Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi and Rwanda.   He was a devoted member of Trinity United Christian Church.  Being so dedicated to his church he was named Elder Emeritus, he served with the Ministry of Visitation and was well known for his participation in the candy fundraising.  He loved sharing his Faith and praying with others, even when he himself was ill.  His faith taught him to put others before himself.  He enjoyed watching basketball and football.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Billy Jim Grantz and Howard Grantz; sisters Rebecca (Dwight) Wagner; and Janet (Frank) Gruver.  He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Johnnie (Kovach) Grantz of New Kensington who completely complimented Art in everyway; his son Todd (Kira) Grantz of North Carolina; and his three grandchildren; Logan, Andrew and Cailyn; sister Naomi (Dennis) Siegfried of Wyoming and Elaine (Robert) Smith of New Stanton.  Family and friends are welcome to attend Art’s visitation on SUNDAY from 3-7pm at Trinity United Christian Church, 3400 Garvers Ferry Road, Lower Burrell where his funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Cletus Hull, officiating.   Everyone please meet at the church for his service.  Interment to follow in Greenwood Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the care of the Frank F. Gigler Funeral Home, Inc., Robert P. Karish, Supervisior, Lower Burrell (724) 336-6500.   www.giglerfuneralhome.com.
