Dorothy J. (McGinnis) Piekarski

Dorothy J. (McGinnis) Piekarski, 92, formerly of Vandergrift greeted our Lord peacefully on Sunday, April 2, 2023.  She was the only child of the late Cecil and Helen McGinnis.  Dorothy was a 1948 graduate of Vandergrift High School and has remained lifelong friends with her classmates Dorrie and Dolly.  She easily made friends everywhere she went, even if she just met you in the grocery store, you became her friend.  Dorothy loved all animals, and they enjoyed her interacting with them, especially feeding the squirrels.  She also enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, but she especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family.   She is survived by her children Robert C. Piekarski (his wife Roberta) of Penn Hills and Nancy Piekarski Coons (her husband James) of Verona, WI; three grandchildren Zachary (his wife Theresa) Coons, Corin Coons and Dakin Coons (fiancee’ Miranda Tarpinian); also, several loving great cousins who have played a large role in her life, Robert McBryar, Mark McBryar, and Amanda McBryar along with their families, all of Fairless Hills, PA.  Family and friends will be received at the Frank F. Gigler Funeral Home, Inc., Robert P. Karish, Supervisor, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, Pa on Saturday April 8th from noon until time of service at 1 p.m. with Fr.
