Helen (Zimmerman) McGee, 84, of Lower Burrell, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at her home on Saturday, January 6, 2024. She was born in Apollo to the late Charles and Stella Mae (Stiffy) Zimmerman. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles A. McGee, her brothers Edward and Kenneth, and his wife Gloria Zimmerman. Helen was a graduate of class 1957 of Vandergrift High School. She was employed by The Pants Factory in Washington Twp and Hat and Cap in Creighton. She was a past President of the Allegheny Township Fireman’s Lady Auxiliary. She was one of the leaders of the marching group “The Blazers” sponsored by Allegheny Twp. Fireman. She had many hobbies, which included making crafts, sewing and painting. She enjoyed country music, flowers, and loved to dance. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Momma is also known for making delicious buns and cookies. She loved sharing them with everyone she came in contact with. She had an uncanny way of turning strangers into family. She always had so much love to give. Helen is survived by her children, sons Charles Tardivo of Ford City, John Tardivo of Templeton, PA, daughters Diana Glesk (Steve) Boehme of New Kensington and Mary (Keith) Lyons of Lower Burrell; step-son Glenn (Vickie) Nolan of Avonmore; four grandsons, David, Christopher, Matthew and Charles “Bubba” Tardivo, step grandson Sam Nolan; two granddaughters, Amber Miller and Heather Tardivo Sears, Synnmarie Nolan and Tawnya Nolan; eighteen great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren; brothers Russell (Marge) Zimmerman, Thomas (Gloria) Zimmerman and William (Dorothy) Zimmerman and her sister Elsie (Melvin) Miles; her sister in law Barbara Zimmerman and her beloved grand kitty Herbie, who misses his meomaw terribly!; her forever friends Joyce and Johnny of Lower Burell, Ann Crawford, Vivian and John Skidmore of Houston, TX, Agnus Popovich and her school mates Shirley Shuster, Rita Reed, Virginia Orr Young. Family and friends will be received on THURSDAY January 11th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Frank F. Gigler Funeral Home, Inc., Robert P. Karish, supervisor, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, where a Blessing Service will be held on FRIDAY at 11:30 am with Pastor Doug Crump officiating.
