James P. Gay, 93 of Lower Burrell, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 9, 2020. He was born in 1927, a son of the late James P. and Ivy Lee (Ingram) Gay. He was a proud Gunner Mate in the US Navy, being stationed on the USS Little Rock. Jim worked as a carpenter foreman for 25 years for West Penn Hospital. During his early retirement he pursued many hobbies and enjoyed his past times playing golf and time on his boat with his family. He continued his love for carpentry by being an active and important part of construction, remodeling, and repair projects for his family and anyone in need. His sense of humor, character and integrity carried him for 93 years. His family was of most importance to him. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife Elizabeth (Bette), his son James R.; his sisters Vera Azzarello and Arlene Hanz. He is survived by his sons Barry Gay, of Lower Burrell, Jerry (Judy) Garvey, of Plum, daughter Donna (James) Prager, of Natrona Heights and daughter-in-law Jamie Gay, of New Kensington; Grandchildren Chad Gay, Corey (Michelle) Gay, Cristin (Matt) Meerdo, James K. (Carly) Gay, Kelly Gay, Jackey (Nick) Hogan, Lauren (Mike) Santucci, Erin (Rob) Stadelmaier, Luke Prager; 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, his brother William Gay, of Florida and his longtime companion Diane Barth, of Lower Burrell. Family and friends will be received on Friday from 6-8 pm in the Frank F. Gigler Funeral Home, Inc., Robert P. Karish, Supervisor, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA, 15068. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday in St. Margaret Mary Church, 3055 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA. Everyone please meet at church. We are adhering to the CDC guidelines and masks are to be worn for visitation and in church.
