June A. (Remaley) Serene

June A. (Remaley) Serene of New Kensington passed away Sunday October 2, 2022, at Quality Life Services, Apollo, PA.  She was born July 7, 1931, a daughter of James and Cara (Rairigh) Remaley.  In addition to her parents, June was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Joseph Serene and her siblings Edwin and Harry Remaley and Janet Bongartz.  She graduated from Arnold High School as the class Salutatorian and had worked at the Wear-Ever Building, Alcoa in the accounting department before starting her family and was a member of Arnold United Methodist Church.  June was a loving wife, mother, and Nana who enjoyed reading, playing the piano and was an excellent seamstress. She also enjoyed watching hockey and was an avid follower of the Pittsburgh Penguins.  June and her husband enjoyed vacationing in Myrtle Beach, SC. She loved to laugh and be with her family. She loved cooking for her family. During her time at Quality Life Services, she enjoyed bingo and the horse races. June was a wonderful, kind, and caring person.  She is survived by her sons Keith (Roseanne Rapp) Serene and James (Nita) Serene, grandchildren Anthony Serene, Carolyn (Macklin) Stanley, Braden (Katie) Serene, and great-granddaughters Rebecca and Meredith Stanley, also many nieces and nephews.  The family would like to thank the staff at Quality Life Services, Apollo and Monarch Hospice for the compassionate care provided to June.  Private visitation and service was held at the Frank F.  Gigler Funeral Home, Inc. 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068, 724-335-6500.  Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Action Time Meals on Wheels, 1009 Puckety Church Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068.
