We regret to announce the passing of Mary Jane Carlisi, 95, of Lower Burrell, on Tuesday November 16, 2021. Mary passed away from complications associated with COVID-19. Mary was a very strong and kind woman, she enjoyed caring for others, as well as, her own family. Mary was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Margaret Mary’s Church. She enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. She was particularly well known for her wonderful cooking of polish dishes, and her pierogies were famous! She also took care of her two bachelor brothers their whole lives, as devoted a sister as she was wife and mother. Mary was able to persevere through some of life’s most difficult challenges with grace and humility. She was and continues to be an inspiration to all who had the privilege to have known her. Mary was preceded by her husband Stephen, daughter Lorraine Zatko, her parents Joseph and Cecelia Klanica, and her 10 siblings Joseph, Stephen, John, Adam, Andrew, Anna, Martin, Rudolph, Frank, and Philip. Mary is survived by her son Ronnie, son-in-law Larry Zatko, grandson Zachary Zatko and granddaughter Carlie (fiancé Jon Szuch) Zatko; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat Pumpkin. Family and friends will be received on Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Frank F. Gigler Funeral Home, Inc., Robert P. Karish, Supervisor, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday in St. Margaret Mary Church (Everyone meet at church) in Lower Burrell. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
