Michael Stelika Obituary

Michael “Mike” Stelika, 89, of Lower Burrell passed peacefully on Wednesday December 27, 2023 at his home in his sleep.  He was born in 1934 to the late John and Tekla Stelika in Logan’s Ferry.  He moved to Braeburn Heights with his parents to work on the farm at the age of 14.  He obtained his G.E.D. and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.  Mike worked at the American Glass Company in Arnold until it closed.  He retired from People’s United Telephone Company at the age of 62 and spent 25+ years enjoying a wonderful retirement.  He loved traveling with his wife Doris out West and to Gatlinburg.  He enjoyed many years fishing in Canada and playing golf with family and friends.  He visited the local donut shop every morning where he and his buddies solved the problems of the world.  He belonged to the Tuesday evening Euchre Club, attended Thursday morning breakfast, and monthly retiree dinners.  Over the past 2 ½ years he battled dementia and his family provided 24-hour care in his home.  His family considered it an honor and blessing to provide such care in the same manner he had cared for his beloved wife during her illness.  He was a great husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.  He lived his life devoted to his family.  He was a hard-working simple man who enjoyed a good cup of coffee, sour cream glazed donut, a hearty breakfast and home-cooked family meals.  Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Stelika, brothers John Bolubasz and George Stelika, sisters Mary Marchlewski and baby Anna Bolubasz, nephews Frank Marchlewski, John “Jack” Bolubasz and niece Marcella (Marchlewski) Zmijewski.  Mike is survived by his three daughters, Teresa Stelika (Dave J.) of Lower Burrell, Brenda Stelika (Jackie Torkeo) of Sigel, PA and Jennifer Stelika (Tim M.) of Zelinople; two beautiful grandchildren, Jenna Lecorchick and M. Santiago Lecorchick; and their father Mike Lecorchick, his Canada fishing buddy.  He leaves behind nieces, Georgeann Hudak and Linda Stelika, nephews Scott and Chad Marchlewski and their mother Tish Marchlewski and nephew Bob Bolubasz.  He will be deeply missed by his family, relatives and friends. We were blessed with his life because it made a difference in ours.  Private viewing will be for the family only.  Family and friends are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian burial at 11 am on SATURDAY December 30 in St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, 857 Kenneth Avenue, New Kensington.  Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Frank F. Gigler Funeral Home, Inc., Lower Burrell (724) 335-6500.
