Shirl (Orsini) Warsing – best known by her family simply as “Gram” –passed away at the age of 87 on Monday May 15, 2023 on a beautiful sunny day in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by her loving family.
Shirl was born in New Kensington to the late Phillip and Mabel Orsini. She was attended Ken High where she graduated in 1955. She married Lyle “Red” Warsing and together they raised her children Cindy Douds (Dennis) and Randy Guido. They also bought a local bar/restaurant called “The Whipper Inn” where Shirl was a bartender and server. After Red’s passing, she moved to Ohio where she was an active member of her community – joining Red Hats, craft groups and working at both Cracker Barrel and Kroger. She also loved supporting her grandchildren by attending their sporting events and helping drive them to school.
Shirl loved crafting and crocheting up until she got her first smart phone…she loved chatting with her friends and Facebooking. She especially adored her great-grandchildren who kept her young and active. All the way up to her final days, you could find Shirl “partying hard” at Bowstring Bar & Grill, the Douds’ family restaurant where she was a regular.
Some of Shirl’s favorite things included getting all-dolled up while enjoying an ice-cold Pepsi and vanilla ice cream…and of course, going for a ride. The family joke was always, “if the car is moving, Gram’s butt is in it!” Welp Gram, this is your final ride-the car is moving, we know your butt will be in it!
Family and friends will be received on Saturday May 20, 2023, from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. at the Frank F. Gigler Funeral Home, Inc., 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA (724) 335-6500. Interment to follow in Greenwood Memorial Park. We look forward to celebrating Shirl’s life with each of you.
