Helen DeMao,100, of Greensburg, formerly of Arnold, died on Thursday, May 11, 2017. Helen was born Oct. 27, 1916 in Arnold. Daughter of the late Jan and Katherine (Adamowicz) Sylak. She was a member of Mount St. Peter Church in Kensington and the Arnold Firemen’s Auxiliary. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother who enjoyed music and dancing. She was a loving, giving and compassionate person who would help anyone. Her family and friends had a challenging time keeping up with her because she loved to shop, but never bought anything, and was seldom at home. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dominick in 1995; sisters, Rose Mohamed and Laura Karpinski; brothers, Frank and Stanley; daughter, Amelia Spicher and daughter-in-law, Lynn DeMao; Survivors include sons, Jeff (Caroline) DeMao of Greensburg; Peter (Sandra) DeMao of Charlotte; Dom (Elsa) Demao of San Antonio; son—in-law Robert Spicher of Vandergrift; 8 grandchilden, 8 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; and a long time family friend and neighbor, Imogene Savage of Arnold; numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends received from 11AM to 1:30PM SATURDAY in the Frank F. Gigler Funeral Home, 2877 Leechburg Rd., Lower Burrell, Pa. 15068, (724-335-6500) where a blessing service will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery in Lower Burrell.
